Prepping for the outhouse, 8 May 01

I'd had the cement blocks all carefully spaced and leveled the day before, carrying many pails of sand and gravel from my stream to make a foundation. Then, that night, I realized that with the blocks sitting above the ground, they would surely be disturbed during the placement of the outhouse so I decided to sink them a bit. This will also be more aesthetically pleasing as the outhouse would then be closer to the ground. So I dug down and laid the first block, upper right corner. When I went to place the block next to it that completes the corner, I encountered this large rock. Only a few inches of it was in the way. I winched from three different trees but one pull was a wasted effort. I learned a good deal about the come-along as well as moving large rocks. This beauty will be the step into the outhouse.
